Dec 2021 – Christ is the Cause of Christmas

Ladies of Hopewell,

I’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating, we’ve said for a long time that “Jesus Is the Reason for the Season,” however, during this season other holidays are celebrated such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, therefore, I’ve penned a new phrase that says “Christ is the Cause for Christmas.” As we know without His Immaculate Conception and humble birth, there would be no reason to celebrate Christmas. So, let’s accept the challenge of making sure that our children and loved ones know and understand the story of Christmas. And as you exchange gifts, please emphasis that the greatest gift given to mankind is JESUS CHRIST.

Now, a word of encouragement from the subject The Wisdom of Silence: In Job 13:15 (NIV), he says “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him.” Oh, if we could replicate those times, we’ve said the right thing at just the right time, straight out of the wisdom of God. Those times are beautiful and encouraging for everyone. Yet it’s wise to admit when it’s not one of those times. In particular when visiting someone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. In times like this we can use the gift of compassionate silence when we really, truly don’t know what to say. God gives us the freedom to not know it all, all the time. In the Bible, when Job friends visited him after he lost everything, these men sat with Job for seven days and seven nights.

They said nothing. Their very presence with their hurting friend spoke volumes about their compassion and concern. But when the conversation between Job and his friends began, it was all downhill for Job’s friends. Ladies, when you don’t know what to say, try showing God’s love. It will be much more helpful than any empty words could be.

May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through!
