July 2023 Message from The Pastor’s Wife, Sis. Alene Stanley
Ladies of Hopewell,
First, I want to thank you for your participation in our Women Enriching Women Fellowship during the month of June. With the theme “Let’s Talk About It” we discussed topics such as “Ways we can Improve our Mental Health; “What to do When a Loved One Comes Out” and “Biblical Affirmations to Start our Day.” I believe that the time we spent together was informative, enjoyable, enlightening, as well as encouraging. We have one more WEWF, which will take place on Monday, July 3rd. and it will be about “Testimonies of Triumph.” Yes, we will climax these sessions with talking about the goodness of God! Then Monday, July 10th at 6pm the Virtuous Women Book Club will meet to discuss part 2 (pages 121 through 214) of the book The Light We Carry by Michelle Obama. Following the discussion, we will resume our studies from our Christian Growth and Development Book, beginning with Unit 2, “Jesus Envisions the Kingdom.”
Save the Date, August 7th at 7pm, Lynnette Fuller-Kennerly, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, will return to share with us Ways to Guard our Minds.
Hopewell’s 77th Church Anniversary celebration will take place this month on Sunday, July 16th so let us show our support by participating in all the festivities that have been scheduled for our enjoyment.
Something to think about: God is not just interested in making us comfortable. His goal is to make us holy, like His son. And God does not tell us to pick up a memory foam cross. The cross is rugged and it is heavy. We can run and try to find some easier way, but eventually He leads us through the thorns and briars and the valley of the shadow. But I promise you, if you trust Him, He will lead you to pastures and peaceful waters. Not just when you get to heaven, but right here of earth. He will give you peace and contentment in the middle of the storm.
HIS Love and Mine,
Alene Stanley
