Pastor’s Perspective July 2022

This is the LORD‘S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. (Ps. 118:23)

Hopewell, in spite of all that is happening in our world today, God continues to extend His manifold blessings upon us. And while all of us are being affected by the tragic events and troubling economy, we find great consolation in knowing that it has not taken our God by surprise. David came to the same conclusion in Psalm 118:24, when he declared while in his situation that This is the LORD‘S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. David was saying that what he was experiencing wasfrom the Lord. That it could be traced to the Lord alone. What is happening today is not the result of human wisdom or power. But all this can be traced to God alone.

But then David said it is marvelous in our eyes. While it may not appear that there is no cause or reason to rejoice, God sees our situation from a supernatural perspective. And I am convinced that the best is yet to come. So let us walk in the confidence that God knows what’s best and we are safe in the Arms of God.  

Hopewell, as you know July is the month, we celebrate our Church Anniversary. This year we will be celebrating Seventy-six (76) years of faithful progressive ministry. Hopewell, we are a part of a great and rich history, and we stand on the shoulders of our founders who laid the foundation and set the standard for transforming ministry.

Again, I am compelled to salute our courageous founding members, Rev. and Sister D.V. Miller; Deacon Frank and Deaconess Rosabell Frazier; Deacon and Deaconess Lowe Griffin; Bro. and Sis. Jimmie Lee Johnson; Sis. Mary Evans, Sis. Louella Gainer, Bro. Frank Simms, and Bro. Charlie Lovette for adhering to the call and accepting the challenge to establish a life changing ministry. PRAISE OUR GOD!

Hopewell, last year we accepted the challenge during our Seventy-Fifth (75th)Church Anniversary to give $75.00 to $750.00 to reduce our mortgage below one million, and we achieved our goal. This year I am asking every member to support the Church Anniversary by giving $76.00, a dollar per year. I am also asking 76 members to pray about sacrificially giving $760.00 to assist in recarpeting the Church. And as always, I am convinced if every member gives according to their ability, we will have the carpet laid in August.

Again, I ask that you continue to follow me even as I follow Christ.
