Pastor’s Perspective September 2019

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. (1 Corinthians 1:17)

Hopewell, I’m so grateful and thankful to God for the undeserved privilege He has given Alene and I to serve as leaders of this great ministry. We are both extremely humbled by this wonderful opportunity and have done everything within our power in these thirty (30) years not to bring shame to the name of our Christ or embarrassment to this faithful congregation.  I want to thank every member, especially those members who have never wavered in their support during these thirty (30) productive years.

And once again, I’m reminded of all God has allowed this ministry to accomplish, I’m reminded of that transforming moment when God called me to serve in the gospel ministry. I heard the voice of God compelling me to read 1 Corinthians 1:17, (a verse at the time, I had never read). And I read these words from the apostle Paul “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” It was quite clear that God was calling me to preach the gospel. And with personal apprehension, but unwavering confidence, I submitted and committed to be faithful to that call. And here I am thirty-four (34) years later still determined to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross would be made of none effect.

Hopewell, this personal call explains my passion for preaching and my confidence in the power of the almighty God. So, Hopewell, on this special Pastoral Anniversary, I solicit your continual prayers for the First Family as we fulfill God’s call upon our lives.

I am excited to share this special celebration with my son in the ministry and my close friends. I want to thank Rev. Mark Lee, Dr. Oscar Chestnut, Dr. Eric Jones Jr. and Rev. Andrew Jefferson, and I want to thank them in advance for declaring an encouraging word to me and blessing the entire membership. It is my earnest prayer as always, that God will abundantly bless each of them, their families and ministries.

Hopewell, The First Family truly thanks you in advance for all acts of love and kindness that will be displayed and demonstrated to us this month. And as always, I humbly ask you to continue to follow me as I follow Christ.

Serving Him In Full Throttle,

Pastor Stanley
