Pastor’s Perspective June 2020

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Hopewell, I want to begin with thanking you for your faithfulness to God and the things of God. Your discipleship and stewardship have been a source of great strength for me as I continue to witness your devotion to God and your dedication to the ministry He has entrusted to us. While these past two and a half months have been extremely challenging with COVID-19 and recently with the racial tension caused by the murder of George Floyd, but neither has discouraged, distracted, or demotivated us, but rather they have increased our faith and embolden our unity as a Church. To God be The Glory!

In the words of the Apostle Paul, we have been steadfast and unmovable during these trying times and have continued to abound in the work of the Lord. So, let us not be weary in well doing for the favor of God is upon and with us.

As I have mentioned, we are preparing for the possibility of returning to Church on first Sunday in July. While we will abide by the CDC guidelines our worship arrangement will be different but not deficient. I will make available all the plans and procedures for our re-entry during this month. Our return will be celebratory, comprehensive, and careful. So, I’m asking each member without underlying health conditions to begin focusing on your return consciously and cautiously to eliminate all anxieties.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we will not be able to have our Scholarship and Robe Pageantry. I want to thank Dr. Norice Callaway and the Scholarship Committee for their diligence in trying to make our Scholarship Pageantry meaningful. So, we want to congratulate Jordan Ewing the recipient for our Abraham award and all our graduating Seniors for crossing one of many hurdles toward their ultimate career goal.

Of course, on June 21st we will celebrate the Faithful, Fruitful, and Fantastic Fathers in our congregation. On Saturday June 20th, I am asking all Fathers of our congregation to come to Hopewell between 3pm and 5pm to receive your special Father’s Day gift.

Hopewell let us continue to demonstrate our love and commitment to God, Family, and Ministry. And as always, I ask that you honor our covenant and follow me even as I follow Christ.

Possessing the Prosperity of Perfect Patience,

Pastor R.C. Stanley
