“The Well’s” First Family

On September 6, 1989, Dr. Stanley was called to serve as Pastor at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church which, at that time, had an active membership of 150. Under his leadership, God’s magnificent power was manifested. Hopewell instituted several ministries, such as the King- and Queen-Agers, which is a Bible class for senior citizens, Women’s Ministry; Men’s Ministry; Singles’ Ministry; Prison Ministry, Substance Abuse Ministry; Outreach Ministry; HIV/AIDS Ministry. Hopewell now worships at 8 A.M & 10:45 A.M. on Sundays, with an Inspirational Service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesdays. Hopewell’s current active membership has grown to over 2,000.

In April, 1998, Hopewell opened a Child Care Ministry to reduce child care expenses for families, specifically targeting single parents, and enrollment is at its peak. With the opening of the Child Care Ministry, the vision that God has given to Dr. Stanley began to unfold. The construction of the new edifice on the adjacent Hopewell property was completed in December 2002. God has continued to manifest His power and presence and in August 2007, a new Pre-School Academy was completed. The school provides quality education and training for children, ages infant to five years. It also accepts VPK students and there is an after-school care in place to aid parents who are working. Also, adjacent to the Pre-School, is a state-of-the-art Fitness Center for the members and the community. In January 2004, Hopewell established Operation D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. to minister to the educational needs of, not only the Hopewell Youth, but the community at large. The Teenage Mothers’ Ministry and the Common Compassion Ministry were also launched in 2004. We are especially excited about the Common Compassion Ministry which will address the needs of the Membership and the residents of the community that are presented to the Hopewell Family. The Hopewell Youth Pastor was appointed in January 2005 and Youth Church services were started in Hopewell West. The Youth also worship at 10:30 A.M. In December 2005, The Hope, Healing and Wellness Ministry was formed, ministering to the needs of those with physical infirmities, and is staffed by those members who are in the Healthcare Industry. We have a full rotation of nurses every Sunday who stand ready to act in case there is a medical emergency.

In 2006, the G.I.R.Ls’ Ministry (Growing Into Righteous Ladies) was formed as a vehicle to encourage the teenagers to recognize how important it is to live a righteous life, and to give them tools which they can use to accomplish this goal. Also in 2006, a Recording Studio was completed to accommodate the Remnant of Praise recording choir, and other present and future artists.

In 2007, under the unction of the Holy Spirit, Dr. Stanley was led to transform the Men’s Ministry into “Men Sharpening Men” and this ministry has been a tremendous success. It involves all the Men of Hopewell and there is a bonding among the men that is unparalleled. Pastor Stanley leads this Ministry by example, encouraging all men to love the Lord, treat their wives with respect, and nurture their children, and to let their lives be an example in their homes. Dr. Stanley avails himself to the community for crisis counseling. He is a dynamic Pastor, Teacher, Evangelist, and Leader, who proclaims the Word of God with clarity, and possesses a gift for ministering to the needs of God’s people. His anointing is evident in the work that he has been able to accomplish at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, which is a beacon for the Pompano Beach community. He exemplifies his teaching in his home, church, and community.

Dr. Stanley serves as the Bible Expositor for the Northern Division of the Ministers’ and Deacons’ Union of the Florida East Coast Association and was the former President of The Pompano Christian Clergyman Council.

Dr. Stanley received his Associates of Arts degree from Miami Dade Jr. College, Miami, Florida; his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from West Georgia State University, Carrollton, Georgia; his Master of Religious Arts in Biblical Studies, and his Doctorate of Theology, from Jacksonville Theological Seminary, Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Stanley was born in Hollywood, Florida. He and his wife, Alene, have been married for 35 years and are the proud parents of a son, Joshua, who recently married the former Kimberly Georges. The Family resides in Pompano Beach, Florida.
